KNOWING GOD
Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me
Matthew 7:21
Wow! Tough call. The key word is the word 'knew'. But what does it mean?
Now Adam knew Eve his wife, and she conceived and bore Cain
Genesis 4:1
Here the word, 'knew', speaks about the most intimate union in a marriage, of being fused together to be one flesh.
So in the context of Matthew 7, God is saying, Go away, we never had an intimate relationship.
It is most unfortunate, that over time, Christianity has slowly evolved into a culture. A culture of activity. We have lost the relationship. During this lock down, God is shuttering our windows, so that the noise and din from activities is cut off. God is saying, Be still and know that I am God. This is the opportune time to rediscover the relationship. This is the time to tune inwards so that the whisper of the inner voice of the Holy Spirit can be heard clearly. This is the time to savour the sweet companionship of the Numero Uno in our existence. This is the time to pour out to Him, all the cries of our hearts, our deepest fears and our deepest aspirations. God desires our deepest worship and adoration even so He longs to caress us tightly in His bosom. We desperately need to know God.
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for this time of rest. I desire to hear from You. Thank You for removing the noise of the world. Lord please teach me how to train my spiritual ears to hear Your voice clearly. Lord during this time of stillness, reveal Yourself to me. Come and melt my heart with Your sweet and loving presence so that I will yearn after You, day and night. So that I cannot bear to be separated from you. I want to know You intimately.
In Jesus most precious name.
